قرر المدير الفني للمنتخب الوطني الأول لكرة القدم، اليوناني جورجيوس دونيس، استدعاء لاعب خط وسط الاتحاد مختار علي للالتحاق بمعسكر الأخضر المقام حاليًا بمدينة جدة، وذلك بعد استبعاد مصعب الجوير. وجاء هذا الاستدعاء في إطار التحضيرات النهائية للمنتخب الوطني لخوض منافسات بطولة كأس الخليج العربي في نسختها السابعة والعشرين (خليجي 27). ويسعى الجهاز الفني من خلال ضمه لمختار علي إلى تعزيز خياراته في منطقة وسط الملعب، مستفيدًا من الجاهزية الفنية والبدنية للاعب لدعم تشكيلة الأخضر في البطولة المرتقبة. والتحق
